Ingredients such as ceramides, fatty acids, and humectants may help restore the skin’s natural protective structure. While ingredients like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and retinoids address clogged pores, bacteria, and abnormal cell turnover, a healthy barrier helps the skin tolerate these treatments more effectively.
