Certain ingredients may provide additional benefits for both acne and barrier health. Niacinamide, for example, is commonly used in skincare because it may help regulate sebum production while also supporting the skin’s natural barrier function. By improving lipid synthesis within the skin, niacinamide can contribute to better hydration and reduced irritation during acne treatment.

Environmental factors also influence barrier recovery. Climate conditions such as low humidity, strong sun exposure, and pollution may place additional stress on the skin barrier. Daily use of broad-spectrum sunscreen helps protect the skin from ultraviolet radiation, which can weaken barrier function and worsen post-acne discoloration.
