🌙 Night Routine for Acne-Prone Skin
Keep it simple and consistent:
- Gentle cleanser
- Remove sunscreen, makeup, oil, and dirt without scrubbing.
- Use lukewarm water and avoid harsh/fragranced cleansers.
- Acne treatment
Choose one main active to start:- Adapalene 0.1% β a good option for recurring acne, clogged pores, and prevention of new breakouts. Use a pea-sized amount for the entire acne-prone area, not just individual spots.
- Salicylic acid 0.5β2% β useful for blackheads and clogged pores.
- Benzoyl peroxide 2.5% β particularly useful for inflamed pimples.
Don’t start all three together; irritation can make your skin worse.
- Moisturizer
- Use a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer.
- If you’re easily irritated, apply moisturizer before and after adapalene (βsandwichβ method).
Simple beginner routine
Cleanser β moisturizer β adapalene β moisturizer
On nights when you’re not using an acne active:
Cleanser β moisturizer
Important: If you’re pregnant or trying to become pregnant, avoid topical retinoids such as adapalene and ask your healthcare professional about alternatives.
